Detained Man Sues Government Over Rights Violation: Alleges Police Abuse

Aaron Wilson, the man who was detained for twenty-two hours and charged with boisterous behavior, says he’s suing the government. This week, a video of Wilson being detained by Ladyville Police went viral and resulted in a Crown Counsel calling out the police department for flagrant abuse of human rights through excessive detention. Wilson and the cop had a brief exchange of words at the Ladyville Police Station after Wilson said the female cop hung up on him. Wilson is alleging that the cop refused to assist him and instead insulted him before he began recording on his cell phone. The businessman believes that his rights were violated and stopped by our studios to give us his side of the story.

Aaron Wilson, Disgruntled Citizen: “When I reached with the documents she didn’t even ask me to see any documents because I understand that the police had already let go my work man because Mr.Barrow instructed it. Why ? Because he trusted that I would have brought in the documents and showed him and proved to him afterwards that my bike is licensed with the Department of Transport. So when I reached Ladyville now she looked like she was all upset because I called Mr.Barrow and she didn’t care who I called and this and that and a pile of things she was exchange to me and I honestly didn’t expect that so I was surprised. Then I told her she was wrong and she set down on me and that’s disrespectful because that is the government phone and she should have tended to me because I was telling her that I will bring in the stickers for her to understand but she didn’t have any understanding and me and her went through a back and forth which I recorded and then she said that I wouldn’t leave the station and she detained me and they asked me for my property. A police that was working with her, Calles, he intervened and he started strong my phone from me and I battled with him and he took away my phone but he thought that the video was not saved because he tried to delete it and nothing was open but the iphone requires you to open for you to delete the video that he thought he stopped. But anyway I got detained for twenty two hours I was in there. That is a lot of time, twenty two hours is a lot of things I could have done with that. They released my workman and me that had all the documents to prove that my workman was legit got locked down because the police said I was hollering at her just because she didn’t appreciate that I skipped ranks and I went to Mr.Barrow and Mr.Barrow released my workman.”

Commissioner of Police Chester Williams weighed in on the matter saying that, after reviewing the footage, he does not believe that Wilson committed any offense. Williams further asked him to report the matter to the Professional Standards Branch so the officer could face consequences.
