Belize Joins ‘Caribbean Moves’ Initiative to Combat Non-Communicable Diseases

Belize is joining member states of CARICOM in what is referred to as, ‘Caribbean Moves’.  It is a framework that Jamaica began piloting in 2018, aimed at tackling the growing issue of non-communicable diseases in the region. A 2-part meeting was held virtually today and saw the participation of the Director of Public Health and Wellness, Dr Melissa Musa-Diaz, and Kathleen Azueta-Cho, Technical Officer in the Ministry of Health.  According to Azueta-Cho, Belize is well underway in trying to reduce the data of NCDs but has pledged to do much more.

Tune in tomorrow as we bring you more details on this project that Belize is adopting.
