PM Briceno Laments Losses, Addresses Nation at Haulover Bridge Inauguration

When Prime Minister John Briceno addressed the gathering this morning at the Haulover Bridge, the staff attached to his office had just attended a funeral service for one of their colleagues.  Briceno took time this morning to lament the passing of several productive members of society in the past week.  Before getting into the business of the bridge, the Prime Minister saluted those persons for a job well done.

Hon. John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize: “I begin this morning by joining my voice with the many thousands of Belizeans who have in some way expressed their  grief over the loss of the honorable Mike Espat. Also join them in their expression of gratitude for his life’s work. Many of us we forget that he exemplified what it is to be a public servant because before he got into politics he was a teacher and also a principal down in Punta Gorda.”

A vigil in honor of Dr Fernando Cuellar will take place tomorrow evening on the Belize Medical Associates (BMA) compound.
