The Government of Belize has committed to lend assistance to countries like Grenada, Jamiaca and St Vincent and the Grenadines following Hurricane Beryl. The grant funding will be taken from the Consolidated Fund which the Leader of the Opposition Moses Barrow has expressed support for. Barrow spoke on this initiative earlier today during a press conference.

Moses “Shyne” Barrow, Leader of the Opposition: “Thank God that we were spared from Hurricane Beryl and my prayers and my thoughts are with my colleagues in CARICOM, many of them I have met with personally. Prime Minister Mitchell in Grenada, Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Keith Mitchell in Grenada as well, Prime Minister Holness in Jamaica, Leader of the Opposition Golding. I offer my prayers Prime Minister Gonzalves in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. So our prayers are with our CARICOM sisters and brothers and definitely I support the Government of Belize given what we can with our limited resources.”
Hurricane Beryl left damages and destruction in the millions to several island nations in the region as it barreled through the Caribbean, impacting thousands of residents, destroying private property and public buildings.
