As we reported on Friday, Dr Louis Zabaneh was endorsed as the PUP Standard Bearer for Dangriga. His endorsement followed a series of events in his municipality including the groundbreaking for the Commerce Bight Port as well as the Multipurpose Park. Flanked by several Cabinet members and Prime Minister John Briceno, Dr Zabaneh saw a well-attended event at the Russell Chiste Auditorium. According to Dr Zab, he is intent on transforming his division into a tourist destination.

Dr.Luis Zabaneh, People’s United Party Standard Bearer, Dangriga: “Well, we continue the work. We had today the groundbreaking for the reopening of the Commerce Bight Port. We want to see that move to its full development over the next three years. We went and visited the second floor of the Ready Call Center. We want to see that move towards 500 people being employed there. We went to the groundbreaking for the Multipurpose Park, we want to see that constructed over the next year that will bring incredible first class amenities to the residents of Dangriga and also to visitors who come to our beautiful community. So that plus more free education, more land, more housing, more services to our people. That is what we’re excited about for the next term. I think the attendance was incredible. As I said, people came, this site here was packed, people were standing, and we felt the love of us working together as a community. The successes we’ve had are based on our collaboration and us working together. So we all share in this success.”
Reporter: So how confident are you going into the upcoming election?
Dr.Luis Zabaneh, People’s United Party Standard Bearer, Dangriga: “Well, you know, it’s again a function of what the people decide. So far we’ve been getting excellent feedback from our people, but we don’t take that for granted. We continue to work hard, we continue to visit homes, we continue to listen to our people, we continue to share the plans that we have based on their ideas. And then when it comes to Election Day, they decide who they want and we give them the greatest respect for that.”
On Saturday, Julius Espat was also endorsed this weekend. On Saturday, hundreds gathered to support Espat’s candidacy in Cayo South. Many gathered in Unitedville, Cayo District on Saturday afternoon, lending support to the Espat who has been serving in the House of Representatives since 2012.
