The Ministry of Transport is seeing the departure of its third Chief Executive Officer since November 2020. Love News has confirmed that CEO Dr. Gilroy Middleton has resigned after being at the Ministry for only a few months. Middleton’s sudden departure brought speculations of him having issues with Minister of Transport Rodwell Ferguson and the way the ministry is run. Ferguson addressed those speculations today, saying that there was no ill will between him and Middleton. He noted that the resignation comes about as Dr Middleton is returning to the education sector as a lecturer at the University of Belize.

Rodwell Ferguson, Minister of Transport: “Well to be very frank there was no ill feeling between myself and the CEO. What he told me one day that traveling to Belmopan from Belize City on a daily basis is very difficult and he had a good package with UB so he preferred to go at UB to finish and he can retire there at the age of 60. As the Minister of Youth Sport and Transport they are three difficult departments because you are dealing with young people and then one you are dealing with commuters. And no matter what you do you cannot satisfy and please all of them but at the same time you have to do your job to the best of your ability. So I feel good that I’m trying my best at the different departments.”
Middleton took over the CEO position from Adele Catzim-Sanchez in January. Catzim-Sanchez had replaced Marconi Leal Junior last July after he and Ferguson had a falling out over the way the Ministry was being run
