Government of Belize continues to support campaigns to combat gender based violence

The Government of Belize says it is committed to eliminating gender-based violence by implementing new policies and working with grassroots groups. Last week, the Ministry of Human Development and Families partnered with the Love Foundation to launch the Visibility Awareness Campaign. The initiative seeks to educate youth on the effects of GBV, signs of GBV, and coping mechanisms. Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Human Development and Families Adele Catzim-Sanchez says that while the ministry lacks data on the number of cases, it supports such projects aimed at tackling the root causes of GBV.

The launch took place last Friday in Belize City and was supported by the US Embassy and the Angelus Press Limited.
