A Belize City man is on remand at the Belize Central Prison after being charged with burglarizing a woman’s home.  Thirty-three-year-old Enerson Garnett appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today charged with a single count of burglary to which he pleaded not guilty. He asked the court to grant him bail as he had a small child to care for, so bail was set at five thousand dollars. However, court records showed that Garnett had an unpaid fine of five hundred and five dollars from a previous conviction. He needed to pay his fine forthwith but could not, so he was remanded until October 20. Allegations against him are that on September 1, Garnett broke into a home on Dolphin Drive in Belize City and stole over four thousand dollars’ worth of jewelry.
