Guinea Grass to Tower Hill Road Project Launched, Benefitting 9,000 Residents

Residents in rural Orange Walk can look forward to improved road conditions between Guinea Grass and Tower Hill, with the new road upgrade project launched today. The Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing (MIDH) held the groundbreaking ceremony at the Guinea Grass Village entrance this morning. Minister Julius Espat explained that the project, which is valued at approximately three-point-six-million dollars, will see the paving and upgrade of eight-point-one kilometers of road, which is just over five miles. Espat also says that the project will positively impact the lives of over nine thousand people.

Present for the groundbreaking was Orange Walk East Area Representative Kevin Bernard, and Orange Walk South Area Representative Jose Abelardo Mai. Mai says that successive area reps have promised the upgrade of this particular stretch of read but have never delivered.

The project is expected to be completed in one year.
