Belmopan City Council Recalls License Plates Amid Fraud Concerns

Another case of untoward practices may have been uncovered at the Belmopan City Council. This time the investigation surrounds vehicle license plates which are now being recalled by the council.  The council issued a release today asking vehicle owners who were issued plates with serial numbers ranging from BMPD-01061 through to BMPD-01110 to visit the council’s office.  According to the council, they are recalling these plates as they are invalid and were issued without due process.  When asked if this is a case of scamming, Mayor Pablo Cawich responded, saying, ‘ … kind of.’  This latest reveal from the Belmopan City Council has raised even more concerns as it was only last week red flags were raised over land distribution and monies paid for land under the Innovabel Estate Development./////
