Belmopan Police Officer Linked to Bold Armed Robberies Targeting Local Businesses

Police in the Capital City are investigating one of their own for his alleged role in an armed robbery. Last week, a pharmacy and butane depot were targeted in two separate incidents in Belmopan, putting the municipality’s business community on high alert. The broad daylight incidents were seen as brazen attacks as one of the robberies played out in front of the police training academy. Today, Commissioner of Police Chester Williams was asked to weigh in on robberies and he stated that an officer was linked to one of the crimes.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “Yes know of those robberies and I can say that the police is narrowing down on those persons who are involved in those robberies and I believe that pretty soon we should be making an arrest including a police officer who may be involved in these robberies.”

The department will be issuing wanted posters for the suspects.
