In the capital city, the National Emergency Management Organization’s Belmopan Branch is anticipating flooding in low-lying areas. Over the past months, a few communities in the city have experienced flooding due to incessant rains. Residents in the J and W area particularly have seen flood waters wash away portions of the community’s road entrance. Fortunately, Belmopan District Coordinator Santiago Acosta says work has been done to prevent similar occurrences. He spoke with Love News on the preparations the committee made today.
Acosta also urged residents to take the safety of their pets into consideration.
