Miss Universe Belize Halima Hoy, returned home today, after representing the country at the 2024 Miss Universe Pageant in Mexico City. Despite not securing the crown, Hoy was greeted at the airport with fanfare, drumming, and gifts from the Belize Tourism Board, for her stellar representation on the world stage. Hoy was one of a hundred and twenty-five women who displayed grace, beauty, and poise competing for the coveted crown. Speaking on her experience, Hoy says she returns to Belize with new insights and a stronger personality, which she will use to help prepare her successor for the next competition.

Halima Hoy, Miss Universe Belize 2024: “It was an incredible experience. It helps to make anyone who goes through that will grow after that experience. I had to be resilient, I had to be strong. It taught me a lot about leadership and it just really challenged my character because we had to get up super early and go to bed really late and be prepared and be glammed. So there was a lot of moving parts and being able to navigate that was a challenge but it was fun and on the other side there’s a girl who is transformed and who’s stronger than she was before.”
Reporter: What would you say from your time out there was the highlight experience for you personally?
Halima Hoy, Miss Universe Belize 2024: “It has to be the couple seconds that we had on stage. I felt so comfortable on the stage. I felt so energetic and motivated because I knew that that was my time to make my country shine, to make people hear and see Belize. And so that was definitely the highlight. I had so much fun on the stage. I wish I can go back and do it all over again and relive the moment. But that’s why we have videos, right? Well, I still have my advocacy to continue working with UNICEF and the Ministry of Health and Wellness and whatever other organizations are willing to push my platform, which is health and wellness. I also will continue being Miss Universe Belize. It doesn’t end until I pass up the crown. But the experience that I had in Mexico City is gonna help me build a stronger candidate for next year. I’m gonna teach her everything that I know. I’m gonna be a vital part of her preparation so that we can send her off and again put our hopes in a placement because I think what we are lacking is the consistency. So sending a girl every two years, every other year is not gonna cut it. So year after year we want to be sending strong representatives so that we can keep an eye out for Belize when we come.”
Miss Denmark was named Miss Universe 2024, with Ms. Nigeria taking first runner-up. Miss Mexico and Miss Thailand secured third and fourth places respectively
