The Belize U17 Women’s National Team is gearing up for a pivotal match that began at 6 pm against hosts Trinidad and Tobago tonight, in the 2025 CONCACAF Women’s U17 Qualifiers. The game is currently taking place at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva in Trinidad and Tobago. This match comes on the heels of a challenging start to the tournament for Belize, who suffered a 2-0 defeat to Honduras in their opening match on Monday, January 27. Yesterday, Love News spoke with Coach, Joseph Waight that explained that Despite the setback, the team is refocusing and preparing to bounce back against a strong Trinidad and Tobago side.
The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) has called on Belizean fans to rally behind the team as this is the first time in history that the Women’s National Team has made it this far into the tournament. Trinidad and Tobago enters the match with momentum after a dominant 5-0 victory over the U.S. Virgin Islands in their opening game. The top six group winners and the two best runners-up from the qualifiers will advance to the next round, where they will join the top four seeded teams being the United States, Mexico, Canada, and Haiti, in the CONCACAF Women’s U17 Championship, scheduled for April-May 2025.
