With a recent audit at the Ministry of Transportation revealing missing monies, the Chief Executive Officer, Chester Williams says he is looking to have further audits conducted. He noted in an interview today, that he has begun taking corrective measures within the department with a goal to streamline operations and efficiency.

Chester Williams, CEO, Ministry of Transport: “I have written to the auditor general asking for there to be a complete audit of the traffic department. And so once the audit is done then we will be able to see if there was things like this happening elsewhere. We do have a good internal auditor here in the person of Ms. Hill. She’s very efficient and very effective. I’m pleased with the work that she’s doing because it helps us to be able to identify the shortfalls in the system. And once that is brought to my attention, then I make sure I take immediate action to be able to remedy those issues. It’s a part of the job. I was in charge of a police department that has over 2,600 persons and whenever one of them do something out of the way, I was the one to be blamed. So I’m used to dealing with things like this and so it is nothing new to me. It’s just a matter of making sure that what needs to be done is done. The public do expect that the government services and transport department is no different, that we will do what needs to be done to maintain the integrity of government. And so I do have a responsibility as a CEO to do what is right in making sure that the ministry runs where it’s supposed to be run.”
