A tragic road traffic incident on Saturday night in Orange Walk Town claimed the life of a fisherman and left his girlfriend seriously injured. The collision, which occurred on San Andres Street in the Union Town area, involved an SUV and a motorcycle. According to police reports, just before eleven o’clock that night, authorities responded to the scene where they found a red Buick Encore SUV, registered to Heidi Nalisha Chan of Maskall Street, Orange Walk Town, in the middle of the road with significant front-end damage. About 14 feet away, was the motionless body of a male individual, later identified as 43-year-old Steve Edward Bell, a Belizean fisherman of San Andres Street. Bell, of Creole descent, sustained fatal head injuries, a broken right hand, and a broken right foot. Initial investigations reveal that shortly before the accident, 49-year-old Ada Y. Williams, a Belizean domestic from Black Water, Trial Farm Village, was driving the Lifan motorcycle on San Andres Street, traveling from Tate Street towards Phillip Alvarez Park. She had stopped and parked on the right edge of the road to pick up her boyfriend, Steve Edward Bell. Love News understands that as Williams sat on the motorcycle and Bell was standing beside her, about to board, the Buick Encore SUV, driven by Chan, a self-employed Belizean also of Maskall Street, collided into the rear of the motorcycle. The impact flung both occupants. Williams landed on the concrete drain next to the motorcycle, while Bell slammed into the SUV’s windshield before being thrown onto the pavement, sustaining the injuries that proved fatal. Williams was transported to the Northern Regional Hospital, suffering from pain in both hands, her right foot, and severe abdominal pain. Bell’s body was transported to the Northern Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:37am on Sunday.
