And we close off our newscast tonight with an assurance from the former Police Commissioner that all is well between him and his successor. The question was posed to Chester Williams earlier today after he was presented with a portrait to replace the one that Dr. Anthony Rosado removed from the Police Training Academy a few weeks ago.

Chester Williams, CEO, Ministry of Transport: “I spoke to the Commissioner on a regular basis. As I have said to him that him being the Commissioner of Police and I being the CEO, in this ministry there is a need for us to work together. Road safety is a major concern for our Belizean people and both the police and the Transport Department do have a responsibility of making sure that our highways are safe and so if you would move around the country you will see that there are more coordinated highway patrols and checkpoints with police and DOT officers. So we communicate regularly and there is that mutual respect between both of us. So there is no animosity, there is no qualm. I’m sure he knows how I felt about what took place at the academy and I have put that behind me and we move on.”
