Convicted kidnapper William “Danny” Mason will have to wait a few more days for his sentence, following an adjournment in the High Court today. Justice Nigel Pilgrim was to hand down Mason’s sentence for his May 2025 conviction on two counts of kidnapping, but adjourned the matter until Thursday, July 17. Justice Pilgrim said that the adjournment was to give him additional time to consider the various special circumstances in the case before arriving at a sentence. Mason, who is already serving a life sentence for the murder of Dangriga pastor Llewellyn Lucas, was convicted in May of the kidnapping Mennonite couple Lloyd and Rosie Friesen. He had also been charged with blackmail but was found not guilty of those charges. The court allowed for mitigation pleas to be heard on Mason’s behalf on June 30, but no one showed up to plead on his behalf, leaving it up to him and his attorney, Peter Taylor, to do so. Mason has already informed the court that he intends to appeal the decision.
