The ongoing legal dispute between former Belize City Mayor, Zenaida Moya, and businessman, Melbourne Wade, returned to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today but was once again adjourned.  The case, which involves an allegation that Wade stole $4,195 from Moya, was scheduled to begin trial this morning. However, both parties indicated they are considering resolving the matter through civil mediation. In court, Wade insisted he does not owe the full amount Moya is claiming. He acknowledged owing her $1,195 but says he has receipts showing that the remaining $3,000 was spent on her behalf. Wade also expressed concerns about entering mediation unless the criminal theft charge is withdrawn.  The prosecution noted that while a civil settlement is possible, the criminal case remains active until Moya formally requests no further court action.  The matter has been adjourned to December 31,when the court will revisit whether a resolution can be reached.
