BCWJ Says Police Permit Changes Forced Protest Suspension

The Belize Communication Workers for Justice (BCWJ) says it was forced to suspend its protest activities for two days this week after police reportedly altered the conditions of its protest permit.  According to the group’s spokesperson, Emily Turner, the organization had originally been granted permission to demonstrate daily over a one-week period. However, members were later informed that adjustments had been made to the permit, preventing them from continuing their planned schedule.  Turner explained that the unexpected modification disrupted the group’s mobilization efforts and limited their ability to carry out the demonstration as initially organized.
