Accused con artist and gang affiliate Doris Grant was a no-show for her court day today, but it was reportedly not her fault. Grant was due in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today for her scheduled hearing to answer to over forty charges including 14 counts of theft and 14 counts of obtaining property by deception. However, a warrant for her removal was never sent to the Belize Central Prison, due to a procedural error. So Grant was not among the prisoners brought down from the court this morning. Since the fault was not her, the court did not issue a bench warrant for grant and the matter was adjourned until August 16. Allegations against her are that BETWEEN January and July of 2022, Grant swindled people out of more than a hundred and twenty-one thousand dollars. She was granted bail in the High Court on June 28 but was immediately re-arrested on charges of gang affiliation under the state of emergency declaration, and sent to prison for 90 days.
