Belize City Council Holds Soft Launch for New Traffic Lights, Emphasizes Safety

Today the Belize City Council held a soft launch for the traffic lights recently installed at the intersection of St. Thomas and St. Joseph Streets.  Belize City Mayor Bernard Wagner and his team were out this afternoon speaking about the importance of the lights and traffic safety with a group of school children, who Wagner says, are the reason the council installed the lights.

Wagner said that the council also established a loading zone on St. Thomas Street to facilitate those dropping off children at the YWCA in the mornings. He added that the value of the traffic lights is around one hundred thousand dollars.
