Belize City Welder Remanded After Failing to Post Bail for Drug Possession Charge


A 66-year-old Belize City man is behind bars tonight after being unable to post bail for a drug possession charge.Robert Norman Goff, a welder from Kraal Road, appeared in Court #7 this morning, where he pleaded not guilty to possession of a controlled drug—0.01 grams of crack cocaine. According to police, on October 28, 2024, officers on mobile patrol along West Collet Canal noticed Goff leaving a known drug area. Upon approaching him, officers conducted a search, including a request for him to open his mouth. Officers say they found an aluminum foil containing a small amount of crack cocaine. Although he was granted bail of $800 by the sitting Magistrate, Goff was unable to post it and was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until he can secure bail. His next court date is set for December 23, 2024.
