Belizean Educator Kyna Cal Selected to Teach Spanish in the U.S. through Global Teaching Partners

Global Teaching Partners, it is a program that recruits international teachers to the United States on an annual basis. Its goal is to address the shortage and high-demand for experienced for teachers in the areas of Math, Science and Foreign Languages. Participants within the program are offered full-time teaching positions at various elementary institutions across the country. Belizean Educator, Kyna Cal, spoke to Love News about being selected to teach Spanish at a local school in the area.
Initially, the brain drain phenomenon was noted in the area of nursing, and is now being seen in the education sector. This has been observed by government officials and they have conceded that it has a lot to do with salary packages and benefits. For Cal, who has been teaching in Belize, she noted the weaknesses in education in Belize and how teachers are impacted.
The Global Teachers Partners is designated by the US Department of State. Once a teacher is accepted into the program, they are paid on the same salary scale as US teahcers, they receive a visa sponsorship for the teacher and his/her family, and they are given assistance in lodging, transportation, and healthcare in the United States.
