Belize’s Efforts against Human Trafficking Recognized by U.S. Department of State

The United States Department of State ranks Belize as Tier 2 in its 2023 Trafficking in Persons Report. The State Department’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, Belize is making significant strides to meet minimum requirements for the elimination of human trafficking. Those strides include identifying more victims, improving screening for trafficking indicators, and implementing finalized guidelines for frontline officers. The State Department also applauded Belize’s “extensive public awareness campaign” on human trafficking and its related issues.
