Team Belize continues to shine on the international stage and has achieved yet another milestone in the FIBA AmeriCup 2024. Today, Belize’s Josiah Moseley secured the Most Valuable Player award for the tournament’s group phase. The eighteen-year-old power forward was able to best athletes from three of the top 20 teams in the world averaging 21.7 points per game. Last night, the National U-19 Basketball Team fell to Argentina, the host country, but still has a chance to make it to the world championship. Belize’s record of 1-2 is tied with Brazil and Argentina, which means the team advances if it wins on Friday. Fortunately, the young stars are confident they’ll be able to bounce back and snag a win. We heard from Moseley today about the plans for Friday’s game and his thoughts on being the MVP.
After last night’s game, Douglas Langford, one of the team’s other top scorers, thanked the fans for their support and spoke on how they planned to shake off the loss.
Tomorrow Belize faces off against the Dominican Republic.
