In a significant move to address climate change and promote environmental stewardship among the younger generation, the Belmopan City Council hosted its Belmopan Youth Climate Change Workshop. This initiative sought to empower youth to take decisive action against climate change and promote sustainability within their communities. The Fund will allocate grants and resources to youth-led projects that aim to enhance environmental education. The council’s Development and Environmental Officer Kiah Pastor provided additional details on the forum.
The workshop attracted high school students from various institutions who share an interest in the environment and sustainable living. Brandi Tzul, a member of the Belmopan Methodist High School Environmental Club, spoke about the benefits of giving youth access to such a workshop.
This is a part of the Council’s mandate to promote youth inclusion.
