The Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE) hosted an information session welcoming a Guyanese private sector delegation during the recent State Visit of Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana. The delegation was coordinated by Belize’s High Commissioner to Guyana, Gale Miller Garnett, with the aim of fostering high-level dialogue and building connections around investment and trade opportunities between the two countries. The engagement was held on Friday at the Fort George Hotel and brought together representatives from Belize’s public and private sectors, including the sugar industry, alongside members of the Guyanese delegation. Discussions focused on areas of mutual interest such as investment, trade, logistics, and agro-processing, underscoring the shared commitment of both nations to deepening intra-CARICOM partnerships and advancing sustainable economic growth. Presentations highlighted Belize’s investment and trade landscape, priority sectors, export opportunities, and the range of investor support services available through BELTRAIDE. BELTRAIDE also emphasized Belize’s strategic position as a gateway between the Caribbean and Central America, its stable macroeconomic environment, and its investor-friendly framework, noting that the country’s focus on sustainability, resilience, and inclusive growth closely aligns with Guyana’s own development path. Members of the Guyanese delegation, in turn, shared insights on private sector opportunities, logistics, and trade facilitation, identifying potential areas for collaboration, joint ventures, and regional value-chain expansion. The session concluded with a networking mixer, allowing participants to engage directly with representatives from BELTRAIDE, the Directorate General for Foreign Trade, the Investment Policy and Compliance Unit, the Economic Development Council, the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Finance Belize, and other public and private sector partners.
