The price of butane will see a decrease of eighteen cents per gallon starting today. The announcement was made last week by the Supplies Control Unit (SCU) in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise. The decrease is possible due to a lower cost in the acquisition price for both butane and propane. According to the SCU, the prices established for imported butane are based on the mixtures of 70:30 (Propane: Butane) only as per requirement of the Belize National Standard Specification for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). In the rural areas of all six districts, the per-gallon price will now be five dollars and three cents. In the cities and towns across the country, the per-gallon price is now four dollars and ninety three cents. The import wholesale price for butane is now three dollars and thirty three cents.
