Citrus Industry Facing Challenges

The citrus industry is also facing its own set of challenges. As prices on the global market soar, so does the prices of input material such as fuel and fertilizer. The Minister of Agriculture, Jose Abelardo Mai, says he has been meeting with the producers from down south to address these issues.

Hon. Jose Abelardo Mai, Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise: “I did meet with them in the first instance. My director of citrus also went with them again on Thursday to explain to them what we are doing and to get consensus how to move forward. I don’t want to say much right now in detail because it’s still in the making but we have all hands on deck right now trying to get things done for the south.”
