Coby Ledlon Critical After Belize City Shooting Linked to Feud

A Belize City man is in critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) after being shot this morning in Belize City. Around 10:30, 20-year-old Coby Ledlon was attacked by gunmen while at a residence on Iguana Street Extension. According to police, Ledlon was standing in front the yard when he was approached by two assailants. One of the men then brandished a firearm and fired two shots at Ledlon, hitting him in the head. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hilberto Romero, provided a statement at the scene, saying that police believe the attack is linked to an internal feud between factions in the area.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Regional Commander, Eastern Division: “Police responded to a shooting here at Iguana Street Extension. Upon their arrival they saw Coby Ledlon with a gunshot injury. He was taken to the KHMH for treatment. Initial investigation is that he was in this area when two persons came one fired shots towards him. He is listed at the KHMH in a critical condition at this time. Initial information we have is that this is an internal feud with persons in this area. We have three persons in custody who were apprehended a short distance away from the scene.”

Reporter: Can you confirm if they knew each other ? How many of them were gathering in the yard.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Regional Commander, Eastern Division: “Yes we have information that they all know each other.”

Ledlon is no stranger to police. Last year, the resident of Neal Pen Road pleaded guilty to the armed robbery of barber shop in Belize City and spent six months in prison.
