The discovery of Marin’s body has brought closure to the murder victims’ family members. Since Hill and Clarke were murdered, their family has been on a public campaign to bring Marin to justice. The family had even offered a cash reward for his whereabouts. This morning, Clarke’s brother, Shian White, weighed in on the news of Marin’s death and explained that it is a feeling of relief.

Shian White, Relative of Murder Victims: “To be honest we were surprised but you know it’s a happy surprise and this is something that has been bothering us like nobody in the family could really even sleep well because we know this animal was out here still and the threat to other members in the family was still present. So having him no longer here is a good news for us and it does provide some closure, not like nothing will ever bring back the lives of my sister and my niece but at the end of the day this is a little bit of justice. Like I said I don’t think there’s no measure that could ever be equal in terms of what he did and all these friends, families, have a different opinion about it. You know me personally I would have liked him to go through our justice system but we do also know that our justice system is flawed so that’s also not a guarantee even if the police would have caught him. So at the end of the day everybody we were just putting everything in the hands of our lord and this is what happened and I you know I’m okay with it. I can’t talk for everybody but I know that most of my family were okay with this situation.”
White went on to explain that while the healing process has been slow, his family is trying to come together and support Hill’s child, who is now without both her parents.
Shian White, Relative of Murder Victims: “Like you said it hasn’t been easy. Life goes on and we’ve been trying to continue but still now there is my grandniece that she’s without her mom, now without her father and without her grandma so like she’s the one that we’re more worried about but at the end of the day we will find a way forward and a way to heal and you know the loss of my sister and my niece is more than just the family. She was a vital member of the community in Corozal. Everybody knew her and she was very loved so it’s a whole community really that needed this to help the healing process and you know to restore faith that you know bad things happen but some justice could also occur. You know just thank all the people who’ve been reaching out who’ve been supportive. Thank the media also you guys have also been keeping track of this and we appreciate all of that.”
Hill and Clarke were well known in Corozal Town.
