Minister Musa Discusses Decrease in Drug Trade Activity in Southern Belize

Musa also noted that the remote areas of the south have long been exploited by drug traffickers but says that strategic military operations have reduced their presence. He explained that back in August, a joint operation resulted in the destruction of a makeshift cocaine lab.

Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs: “That was completely destroyed when that was identified by the BDF. That particular plantation was destroyed. That is the first one, first known lab of that type in the country, and that has been dismantled. But we are definitely, again, on high alert for that type of activity, particularly in the South and to the west of the country as well.”
