Ministry Launches Investigation into Immigration Officer Caught in Cocaine Videos

Weeks after two videos of an immigration officer cutting what appeared to be cocaine, the ministry has launched an investigation into the matter.  The immigration officer in the video has been identified as Sheree Flores.  According to Minister of Immigration, Eamon Courtenay, who frowns at the videos in circulation, has confirmed that an investigation is ongoing.

Eamon Courtenay, Foreign Minister: “One, well there is more than one video. You have only seen one.”

Reporter: I have seen two.

Eamon Courtenay, Foreign Minister: Well good, there are two videos. I have seen two. That officer is under the proper procedure for there to be an investigation as to what has happened. The videos speak quite a lot so I don’t expect it’s going to be a very long investigation. But the Public Service Commission has jurisdiction over that type of thing. The Chief Executive Officer updated me yesterday on the steps that they have taken in relation to that officer. I will be a bit frank what I saw is not acceptable as far as I’m concerned.”

A statement from Flores’ attorney was issued this week, indication that, quote, “persons within her own workplace, who with ill motive and malice, have disseminated a video which is not recent and fails to expose the true circumstances of the event on the date of the video. Our client categorically denies any of the allegations made by these persons and the media that she is seen using an immigration card to cut a line of cocaine and any repeat of publication of any extortion which has been associated with the recent releases.” End of quote.  Flores, through her attorney, has noted that she will not engage in a confrontation with the Ministry of Immigration.  Rather, she is demanding an investigation on those who are on a campaign to tarnish her reputation.  Her attorney further noted that her client has taken the necessary measures to vindicate her reputation and good name including filing police reports against these individuals and is in the process of commencing court actions against those who continue to defame her name and act unlawfully.
