Murder in Georgeville Leaves The Peaceful Community Disrupted
A woman was killed on Saturday inside her business establishment in the Progresso Village, Cayo District. What was once a peaceful community turned ugly as 31-year-old, Mirza Morales was targeted and murdered. Investigators are looking into this recent homicide, saying that robbery was not the established motive. As a matter of fact, this recent case has Police connecting dots to a double murder in June 2019 involving Mario Graniel and Dr Gary Swank. In this case, it was suspected to be drug related, but a definitive piece of evidence was not found to make that determination. According to the Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, they are still probing.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “When the murder of Dr.Swank and Mr.Graniel took place in San Pedro the name of the now deceased was prevalent in that investigation. I am not going to go into details in terms of how that came about but the public would know that she may have been in a relationship with Mr.Graniel at that particular time and now that she is a deceased person and the victim of a murder we believe that the same persons who are behind Mr.Graniel’s murder and Dr.Swank are the ones who are responsible for her murder. There are still certain things that the police is trying to confirm and we’re hoping that we will be able to get the answer to the questions that we need to be answered in very short order and progress with that investigation but yes there are a number of things that we’re looking at to see if we can ascertain exactly who did it but it seems so far from the investigation that she was murdered by someone who knew her and knew her well.”
Tonight, Police are looking at Christian Espat as a person who could assist them in this investigation. That aside, Police Commissioner Chester Williams, told the media that they are also looking at an angle of narcotics, but that is only one of several factors being considered. The incident occurred just after nine o’clock on Saturday night at La Casona Restaurant and Bar. Reports say the victim was washing dishes at her business place when one male entered, with a motorcycle helmet, and opened fire on Moralez. The killer then hopped on a motorcycle and left the crime scene, heading towards Georgeville. Moralez was shot to the upper body. Love News understands that as many as six expended shells were found at the crime scene.
