National Commission for Families and Children Urges Safe Driving Amidst Rising Road Fatalities
A brazen move by thieves saw the entire ATM machine stolen in Belize City last night. The burglary occurred between 9:30pm and 5:30am last night at the PUMA gas station at the corner of Faber’s Road and the George Price Highway. Reports indicate that the person responsible for locking up, had failed to engage the alarm system. It is a curious situation as the surveillance camera was also not functional at the time of the burglary. In addition to taking the entire ATM, the thieves also too an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register. At the scene, Police found several pieces of tools and devices used to carry out the crime. Investigators are currently following a lead involving a white van reportedly used in the burglary. This is the second ATM belonging to Heritage Bank that was stolen this year. The first was back in May when burglars also took the ATM from its location in Burrell Boom Village, Cayo District.
