Orange Walk Women Graduate from Cell Phone Repair Course, Empowering New Skills

Over a dozen women from the Orange Walk District are now equipped with a skill they can use to provide for their families. Over the weekend, the Government of Belize held a graduation ceremony for the Cell Phone Repair Training Course in Orange Walk. The training provided 14 women with the knowledge of upkeeping, cleaning, maintaining, and repairing cell phones. The project was a partnership between the Office of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Investment, and the National Women’s Commission. CEO of the Prime Minister’s Office, Narda Garica underscored the importance of empowering women by providing them with new opportunities.

One of the participants, Leora Osorio, noted that while the training was difficult at first, it provided them with various skills that can aid in transforming their lives.

It was the second cohort of graduates under the program, which was first launched in Corozal Town.
