In previous interviews, Police Commissioner Chester Williams has indicated that he does not intend to stay on in the role much longer. While he has not been definitive on the timeline, he did say he will not be there when his retirement age comes. Love News asked him about that and whether he has political aspirations. Here’s what he said.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “I have said that while I may be young and far away from the retirement age I do not intend to remain in this position until I attain that retirement age. I will leave office in due course and when that time comes I’ll let you know. “
Harry Arzu, Stann Creek Correspondent: Rumors have it that you intend to run in the Stann Creek constituency ?
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “I don’t know about that if I will run in the Stann Creek constituency but whenever I have demitted office then I’m going to say what my next plan is going to be moving forward.”
Williams has been the Commissioner for four years now after his appointment in January 2019.
