A San Pedro musician has reported a stabbing incident that occurred during Carnival celebrations earlier this month. Jerome Andrew Mejia, a 34-year-old Belizean resident of Mangrove Street, Boca Del Rio area, visited the San Pedro Police Station yesterday to file a report. He stated that on Monday, March 3, while attending the Carnival festivities at Central Park on Barrier Reef Drive, he was assaulted by two male individuals. During the altercation, one of the men stabbed him five times. Following the attack, Mejia was taken to the San Pedro Polyclinic and subsequently transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City for further medical treatment. Police have taken a statement from Mejia and issued a medico-legal form. However, investigations at the scene have yielded limited results. Police cameras in the area were found to be non-operational, and checks at nearby businesses did not provide any useful information. Additionally, interviews with several individuals in the vicinity failed to produce any leads. The investigation into the stabbing incident is ongoing.
