St. Catherine’s Academy to Host First-Ever “Swim and Learn” Challenge to Promote Environmental Conservation

St. Catherine’s Academy prepares to host its first ever “Swim and Learn” Challenge. The event is not about testing the limits of physical endurance but was inspired by the institution’s commitment to environmental conservation and education. The main event for this challenge is the 9-mile swim from St. George’s Caye to Memorial Park. Participants are encouraged to choose their swimming distance, making the event inclusive for swimmers of various levels. Principal of SCA, Salome Tillett, spoke to Love News about educating the young girls on the critical importance of preserving our resources for future generations which is displayed in the volunteerism of former SCA alumni.

The “Swim and Learn” challenge includes the collaboration of the Belize Coast Guard, Sea of Life and the Belize National Triathlon Association. SCA Faculty Member, Jamie Usher and President of the Belize National Triathlon Association, Kaya Cattouse, spoke with Love News about their excitement for this event as well as the support they have already been able to garner.

Anyone interested in being a part of this event can contact Kaya Cattouse at 672-0363.
