Statistical Institute of Belize Receives $200K in Equipment from South Korea

More than two hundred thousand dollars’ worth of equipment was handed over to the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) today. The donation was made by the government of South Korea through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). It includes two new vehicles, computers, and other IT equipment which will help the SIB conduct surveys and produce data reports. The donations form a part of the larger Enabling Belize’s Statistical System Project, a two-point-seven-million-dollar initiative to upgrade the country’s statistical capabilities. Diana Castillo, Director General of the SIB, explained that the equipment will help the institute cut the costs associated with conducting surveys.

Castillo added that the SIB is working to upgrade its fleet to six vehicles.
