Three Men Arrested in Gang Crackdown Amid Surge in Belize City Violence

Three Belize City men have been arrested on gang affiliation charges as the police department’s crackdown on inner-city gangs continues. Arrested were forty-four-year-old Ian Authurs, twenty-four-year-old Kenroy Linares and twenty-four-year-old Eric George Thompson. All three men were charged with being a member of a gang earlier today. The arrests come at a time where gang violence is surging in Belize City, with two fatal shootings reported this week. Commissioner of Police Chester Williams sent a stern warning yesterday, that if the violence does not subside, the city will be looking at another state of emergency declaration.
