Over the weekend, police charged two Belize City men for the gruesome murder of forty-three-year-old, David Phillips. On Saturday, thirty-seven-year-old, Jerdene Jorgenson and forty-five-year-old, Lloyd Anthony Burgess were charged with Phillip’s murder that occurred last week. The men stand accused of brutally murdering the father of two. Police reportedly tied the men to the crime scene using surveillance footage that captured an SUV leaving the area. Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero says the police are yet to establish a motive but are working to gather additional details.
ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “An investigation was carried out. A vehicle was confiscated and two persons have been jointly charged for the crime of murder. They are Jordeen Jorgensen and Lloyd Burgess. We did not establish a clear motive. All we got is that he was taken from somewhere in Belize City and taken to that area on John Smith Road. We only know that he had committed some petty theft. That is all we have on him.”
Phillip’s body was discovered at a construction site on the John Smith Link Road, beaten to death with a cement block.
