UDP Gears Up for National Convention: Party Aims to Present Unified Front

The Opposition, the United Democratic Party, is gearing up for its National Convention where its executive leadership body will be endorsed. It is the first being held under the leadership of Party Leader, Moses “Shyne” Barrow, and will take place this Sunday in Belize City. The event will begin with a march starting at the UDP’s headquarters and will head to the Bird’s Isle compound. The convention, according to Party Chairman Micheal Peyrefitte, is centered on sending a strong message to the government that the opposition is unified.  While the UDP’s leadership has stated that their party is one collective body, there have been reports that the opposition continues to suffer from internal power struggles. Today, the Leader of the Opposition, Moses “Shyne” Barrow, responded to the reports and stated that he believes all elected UDP officials will join him at Sunday’s convention.

Barrow added that there will be live music at the event.
