UWI Alumni Association Honors Belizean Graduates with Pelican Awards

The University of the West Indies Alumni Association honored two past graduates today at its annual Pelican Awards. The awards highlight graduates who have used their professional lives to make positive contributions to their communities. The award ceremony was held at the UWI Campus in Belize City. Receiving awards today were Justice Michelle Arana, and program analyst for the United Nations Development Program Amilin Mendez. Jamie Rocke, president of the UWI Alumni Association says that the awardees were selected from a pool of graduates across the institution’s five campuses, four physical and one virtual. Meanwhile, Mendez said she is proud to be among the first Belizean women to receive the award.
