Valley of Peace Village Enjoying Climate-Resilient Road Opening to Boost Agriculture

Farmers from Valley of Peace Village will now have a much easier time transporting produce after the community’s main road received a much-needed rehabilitation. The Ministries of Agriculture and Infrastructure Development officially opened the farming community’s new climate-resilient road earlier today. The five-mile stretch was renovated to increase the community’s productivity and allow for easier access to the main highway. Minister of Agriculture Jose Mai says the venture will undoubtedly aid farmers in tapping into new markets.

The project was funded through the Rural Resilient Belize Project, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Economic Development. The Chief Executive Officer of the ministry, Dr. Osmond Martinez, spoke about the road’s cost and the possibility of it being paved.

The road is expected to decrease the percentage of produce that is damaged during transportation.
