Vital Statistics Unit’s Mobile Clinic Benefits Hundreds in Cayo District

This past weekend, the Vital Statistics Unit (VSU), in collaboration with UNICEF and Orlando Habet, Area Representative for the Cayo Northeast and Minister of Sustainable Development, Climate Change & Disaster Risk Management, conducted a Birth Registration Mobile Clinic in San Ignacio Town, Cayo District. This initiative allowed residents from remote communities in the Cayo District to gain access to vital services such as registration of regular and late births and deaths, application of certificates, corrections of errors and deed polls. More than 800 residents benefited from the services provided at the mobile clinic. Two hundred seven late registrations of births and 29 late registrations of deaths were approved and registered, and a total of 878 applications were processed. Love News understands that another mobile clinic is planned for the Corozal District on January 27 and 28.
