Belizean Educators launch Rainforest Academy to close learning gap caused by COVID-19 pandemic

A group of Belizean Educators has launched a digital learning platform with hopes of closing the learning gap caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Rainforest Academy was created with the goal of integrating technology and creativity into the classroom with interactive lessons. The platform is currently being piloted in two schools, available for several grade levels, and user-friendly to children with diverse abilities. Ernice Anderson, the platform’s Assistant Director, spoke to Love News about the motivation behind the learning tool and explained how it will benefit students.

Anderson, who was an educator for over six years, stated that she has met with the Ministry of Education and received tremendous feedback. She says that the digital platform also has traditional Belizean elements geared at encouraging patriotism among students.
