University of Belize Hosts Career Open Day in Toledo Campus

The University of Belize held a career open day at its Toledo campus. The event treated hundreds of students to information about available courses as well as information about the job market. Senior correspondent Paul Mahung was at the event and spoke with the campus administrator.

The Chairman of San Antonio Village, Cayo District, has shed light on an accident that left an American national injured. According to Aaron Tzib, he received a call yesterday morning and was informed that a large tree had fallen on a business establishment, injuring a woman. Tzib says he called the police in Santa Elena/San Ignacio and was informed that fire officials and medical services were contacted. He says that while initial reports indicated that ambulance services were refusing to respond to the scene, about forty minutes after the incident police and paramedics arrived. Our newsroom understands that the tree damaged a portion of the establishment and only caused minor injuries to the tourists. Tzib notes that the village does have its ambulance, but says that the emergency vehicle is not quite ready for use. He says that the village is working to ensure that all protocols are met to have the vehicle up and running to respond to emergency situations.
