Twenty-six months after seven homes were destroyed by fire in Red Bank Village, the five affected families now have newly built homes to call their own. The fire occurred after ten o’clock on the night of February 22, 2022, and saw seven thatch structures consumed by the blaze. As a result, thirteen children and ten adults were adversely affected. Fast forward today, and the Stann Creek Area Representative, Rodwell Ferguson, along with the Ministry of Housing were able to hand over new homes to the fire victims.

Kenroy Cal, Chairman, Red Bank Village: “In 2022 we had a couple families that suffered from a fire, their homes were destroyed by fire and then eventually as the leader of this community we tried our best to assist so hence the reason you see these homes behind us. Five family homes were destroyed then so we built five homes for these five victims with the collaboration of MIDH, the Honorable Rodwell Ferguson and some business community and all the general public as well that poured in their support hence the reason I can see these structures behind us.”
The damages, at the time, were estimated at twenty five thousand dollars.
